I’ll Take the Crypto

Now I don’t know if it’s a new thing or has been going on for awhile, but guys (or Nigerian women, who the hell really knows) are creating profiles on dating sites not to get dates, or to sleep with as many women as they can, or even to find a meaningful relationship,  but to try and get you to invest in cryptocurrency!  Now obviously, if you are truly stupid enough to send them money they are not investing it in crypto, but that’s the new line.  Like it wasn’t horrifying enough to hear things like “hey girl, looking for a real man?” Now in addition I get the “hey girl, have you ever heard of AUX it’s a great investment”.

Yesterday, I had a ray of hope,  I “liked” a guy who lives in Jacksonville.  Yes, Jacksonville is about a 2 hour drive from me but in the grand scheme of things two hours isn’t terribly far.   I mean if you're willing to try and have a relationship these days you're going to deal with a plethora of issues which will require commitment, stamina and a willingness to put forth effort.  So, he “likes” me back and even sends me a message and I respond.  This is going well!  We have made it to 2 messages with no crypto sales involved and no “baby, hey girl or mention of what a real man he is”.   Should have known at that point it was already too good to be true. 

His very next message states how I do not exactly live around the corner and he isn’t “excited” to start a “long distance” relationship.  Well, good to know!  So you want to find a relationship within your neighborhood?  Why are you on a dating site responding to someone who you feel is “long distance”?  Does two hours truly qualify as long distance?  I mean it’s not like I’m in France and you need to hop a plane.   Why didn’t he just go door to door and see if there is anyone within walking distance that might be more convenient for him?  Seriously, you lazy, uncommitted, effortless, wanker! 

Not being one to point out others complete idiocy, (at least directly) I politely replied “Well that’s unfortunate that my not being around the corner is not exciting for you.  After all, where someone is located at one point in their life may not be where they end up at, which is why it’s the journey that’s important and not the location.  I wish you good luck in your very local search.”

I truly have more respect for the scammers trying to sell me crypto.  At least they put forth a little effort. Their little spiel even had me curious enough to look up AUX online and I can say its a far better investment then my current investment in dating sites!
