A Walk On The Beach

A piece of my heart was left in the sand

Exploding with hope when you took my hand

That beach where I met you, light and carefree

The spot where I loved the you, you’d never be

Younger and wilder and oh so naïve

Not knowing back then what I’d now have to grieve

It wasn’t the sun that brought you to light

But the monster you were when the day turned to night

Now a piece of my heart remains on that beach

I left it on purpose just out of reach

Away from the memories, away from the pain

To be washed by the waves and the afternoon rain
